A theater in Memphis, Tennessee cancelled their annual showing of the legendary 1939 Oscar winner. Why? Because it is now viewed as offensive because of its depiction of slavery.
WTF!!!!!
We have gone completely out of control, off the deep end, out of our perspective birds. The politically correct police are now out to completely make over history. They want statues torn down, books banned, and now classic movies forbidden.
The slavery in this movie and the preceding Margaret Mitchell book was a fact. It happened in our nation and yes, oh yes, idiots, we have evolved away from that. They argue that the slaves in the movie sound uneducated. Well, they were! Go back to those times and very few African-Americans sounded as eloquent as Roscoe Lee Browne and Maya Angelou.
It was a fact at the time and it's history and you cannot change it or deny it. But, now a wonderful and epic film is going to be lambasted for simply telling it like it was.
Oh, there is more censorship to come, believe you me. My own pastor did a sermon about catching a rerun of "Father Knows Best" and finding it offensive because they were all White and the man was the smartest one on the show.
Puh-leze. Make it stop.
To all those on the politically correct band wagon...I hope the wheels come off soon. And this occurs just as you're rounding a curve and the lot of you wind up falling down a huge cliff.
