What could be better for a laugh on a summer morning? Perhaps the funniest scene ever on "I Love Lucy." Lucy, Bill Holden, the Brown Derby. Sheer comic nirvana.
Dinner last night: Chicken piccata.

Bravo, Madelyn and Bob. Still hilarious thanks to you. The choice of spaghetti is inspired, and when Ethel pulls out the scissors and cuts the stringy pasta, it's a surreal, madcap peak of American humor, a perfect moment. Also love Lucy peeking through the plant. Reminds me of my nosy mother. It's funny because it's true.
Lucy knew how to use props for maximum effect. She learned from Buster Keaton. Notice how much of the scene plays without dialogue. It could be from a silent movie.
Can't forget Vivian Vance's great pratfall and Bill Frawley's gruff presence. They're first-rate second bananas. And who knew Bill Holden had comedy chops, plus a sense of humor about himself?
This is one of the best Lucys. Gotta watch it again.

"Put it in a sack and take it with you."
Even more amazing that it's live in front of an audience.
