I don't know what Ted Lewis and the Andrews Sisters are doing in this movie but this is the best A+C. Joan Davis and Mischa Auer fit in perfectly. Her "dance" with Lou could not be funnier. Watch out for those elbows!
Trivia that answers your question: the nightclub scenes with the Andrews Sisters and Ted Lewis were filmed four months after production shut down. Why? Preview audiences, who had previously the Andrews Sisters in Buck Privates, wondered why they were not in this one. So that's why the scene at the beginning and the end looks so tacked on. Also explains why Joan Davis is not there at the end. She was already working on another movie.
