How To Get Rid of Your Girlfriend in 24 Easy Steps

 

Sometimes I cannot offer a good reason why I get sucked into a streamed series.  Maybe because of the cast.  Or the writer attached.   Or the fact that "You" is a series about a serial killer who falls in and out of love with girlfriends and then kills them.

Yeah, I know.   I can be weird.

Actually, "You" just ended on Netflix after five seasons that started in 2018.   And this story about one Joe Goldberg...played with the appropriate creepiness by Penn Badgley...who has bounced around from New York and Los Angeles and London over the course of the show.   While the location always changes, Joe does not.   He becomes obsessed with some chick. kills anybody who comes in his way, and then ultimately offs the girl.  Oh, this all happens after a lot of sex.

So the other characters change but Joe does not and, after a while, the plotline gets pretty one-note.  Indeed, I did a count of victims over the five seasons and I got 24.   I'm sure I missed one here and there.   Nevertheless, it ended about two seasons too late and I was done a long time ago.

But...there is a draw when it comes to dating revenge.   Who among us can't say they have a thought or two in this realm?
