From Here To...

I couldn't resist the joke.

Meanwhile, I have to salute Hollywood.  For two weeks in a row, there was product actually worth seeing in a theater.   Now, "Eternity" isn't the best movie ever made.  But it is charming enough to hold your attention for a little under two hours.  Oh, and thanks for the running time, too.   How many films these days run much longer than 130 or 140 minutes.

"Eternity" is an odd little romantic comedy set in the afterlife, where purgatory resembles a combination of an airport terminal and a Nordstrom's.   A senior married couple arrives for their eternity very close to each other.   So they can spend the rest of their timeless existence together?   Not so fast.   As it turns out, the wife is also reunited with her first husband who was killed during the Korean war.   The rule of Heaven is that you can spend eternity with one person.   So she has to pick.   There's the dilemma.

I got some good chuckles from the different departments offered up by eternity.  There's Queer Land and Nudist Village and all sorts of other spots to spend the rest of...um...time.   Overall, the film is clever and well acted by the likes of Miles Teller and Elizabeth Olsen.  It has about five different endings which drags it on a little too long.   But, still....I was at the movies and really enjoying the night out.

Who can ask for anything more?

LEN'S RATING:  Three stars.

Dinner last night:  Chicken pesto on a JFK to LAX flight.
