RIP CNR

I couldn't let this week go by without a comment on the passing of Charles Nelson Reilly. This guy was a stitch. Whenever I ran into him on the tube, I would always linger as there was bound to be some wonderful bit of cleverness coming.

Everybody thinks about the endless TV game show appearances, etc.. But, the man was a Tony award winner. He directed Julie Harris in "The Belle of Amherst." He had an enormous range of talents at his disposal.

He showed up on Johnny Carson's Tonight Show and the spontaneity reeked. Totally unrehearsed and brilliant. This is a perfect example of why these late night shows have lost their luster.

They don't do this stuff anymore. Utterly brilliant.

Of course, I got completely addicted to the Match Game reruns on Game Show Network. Once again, Big Chuck (with an able asset from Brett Somers) stole the show. You never knew what was coming next. Probably because they didn't.

The guy was an original. God bless him....and enjoy him.

Dinner last night: hot dog at the new Landmark Theater complex.
